Reading: The Gateway to Independent Learning

Having a child who can easily read his textbooks frees both the parent and the child. The parent can use their time with other children and the child can read on his own schedule. Because reading textbooks is an essential skill to advancing in all other subjects this new found freedom spreads to these other subjects giving the child a huge advantage in school. As Ally, her picture below, put it, "I'm smart now."

Unfortunately, the average school takes six years to bring a child to functional literacy (fifth grade level). And even taking six years, a third of the students will fail to learn to read. Ally hit this problem in Kindergarten when her teacher told her she would have to repeat Kindergarten.

Allison at 6 years oldInstead, she used Rocket Phonics for two months over the summer. When she entered first grade that fall she tested at second grade level - two years gain in two months! Ally is now in 7th grade and still one of the top readers in her class.
Ally's results are not unusual, but they are clearly depend on using the program. UCLA analyzed Rocket Phonics in 2000 and stated that the average growth was about 1 year in three months and during that time only three fourths of the program was used. So how easy is it to use Rocket Phonics?
